Second Trimester!

Tomorrow will mark the first day of my second trimester!  I a lot has happened since my last post, but I've been so tired and nauseous and haven't gotten around to write about it.  So let's take it back...

February 4th - I had my blood drawn for the cell free/panorama testing for chromosomal disorders.  Nothing too exciting, other than it really hurt afterward!  They told me they were running slow and to expect a phone call in about 14 business days with results and baby's gender!

February 14th - Valentine's Day!  We had our second OB visit and first with the Dr.  Dr Diaz went over my blood work  which all came back good and then attempted to hear baby's heartbeat with dopplar and was unsuccessful.  Because of the miscarriage and the tears forming in my eyes Dr. Diaz was nice enough to roll in the ultrasound machine and show me the heartbeat to ensure baby was still going strong.  It was a great picture and we even saw baby kick!  I had additional blood drawn for Rubella and Chicken Pox titer.

Appointment Stats:  Have lost 10 pounds since becoming pregnant, BP: 104/62

February 16th - We announced to the world (via Facebook of course) we were expecting our second child.  Here is how we did it:

February 21st - I get a MyHealth message from the doctor saying the cell free testing was back and I was given a "negative" result and that if I'd like to know baby's gender to please call the office.  Well after a couple attempts we heard back and the nurse informed us we were having a ... GIRL!

February 23rd - We announced to the world (again that means Facebook) that Baby Clough was a girl.  Many...MANY...people were routing for a boy.  Sorry guys!  Maybe baby 3 :-)  Here is how we announced:  GENDER REVEAL

Here's to a happy and healthy 2nd trimester!!!!!!!!!!

9 Weeks!

9 weeks here we are!  We had our first prenatal appointment and we are squinting in the distance to see the second trimester!

This week we met with Liz, our midwife, for our first appointment.

Highlights:
  • Weight:  7 lbs lost
  • Blood Pressure: 110/68
  • Early ultrasound let us see baby's heartbeat!
  • We elected to do cell free testing for chromosomal disorders
  • Blood work done - all looks good
Symptoms:
  • Good 'ol nausea is still alive and kicking - worst time of day:  3:30-7
  • Fatigue!  Still taking a nap everyday
  • Pelvic/hip/leg pain

Week 9 Info:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

Next week we have the cell free testing and our second prenatal appt with the Doctor!
